Living in Relationship with Spirit

Shamanism, Animism, and Bringing
the Sacred Into Everyday Life

A 12-module self-study course beginning February 1, 2027

There is a difference between believing that the world is sacred and learning how to live as though it truly is.

Living in Relationship with Spirit is a course about that difference.

It is an invitation to move beyond thinking of spirituality as something we practice only during ritual, meditation, prayer, or journeying and begin allowing relationship with Spirit to become part of the way we live each day.

Through shamanism, animism, direct spiritual experience, and practices rooted in reciprocity, you will explore what it means to live in relationship with the land, the spirits, your ancestors, and the sacred presence woven throughout the world around you.

This is not a course about collecting spiritual techniques.

It is about learning another way of being.

The World Is Alive

Animistic traditions begin with a simple but profound understanding: we do not live in a world made only of objects.

The land is alive.

The trees, waters, animals, ancestors, spirits, and unseen beings with whom we share this world are not simply symbols for something happening within us. They exist in relationship with us.

Shamanic practice gives us ways to enter into that relationship directly.

But relationship asks something of us too.

It asks us to listen.

To notice.

To approach with respect.

To give as well as receive.

And to understand that Spirit is not here simply to answer our questions, deliver signs, or help us get what we want.

Relationship is reciprocal.

That understanding is at the heart of this course.

What You Will Explore

Over twelve modules, we will begin with the foundations of shamanism and animism and gradually move into a deeper lived relationship with Spirit.

You will explore subjects including:

  • the differences between shamanism and animism

  • what it means to experience the world as alive

  • direct connection and communication with Spirit

  • developing relationships with helping spirits

  • the spirits of land and place

  • ancestors and ancestral relationship

  • sacred reciprocity and offerings

  • developing discernment within your own spiritual experiences

  • creating meaningful personal practices

  • bringing reverence into ordinary life

  • learning to recognize relationship rather than simply seeking spiritual experiences

Rooted in Lived Practice

This course grows from the way I have come to live with Spirit in my own life — through relationship with the land where I live, the trees and animals around me, my ancestors, and the guidance that has come through direct spiritual experience.

I am not teaching these ideas only as concepts.

They are practices I have lived, returned to, questioned, deepened, and woven into ordinary life.

Throughout the course, I will share experiences from my own path, including the relationships I have developed with the land where I live, the trees who have become part of my spiritual life, the animals who have appeared at meaningful moments, and the ways Spirit has taught me through direct experience.

These stories are not shared as rules for how another person should experience Spirit.

They are offered as examples of what relationship can become when we learn to listen, respond, and participate.

A Course Designed to Be Lived

This course is not meant to remain inside the lessons.

The practices are designed to move with you into ordinary life — into the way you notice the land around you, the way you listen, the way you approach Spirit, the way you give thanks, and the way you respond to what you experience.

Some days you may spend more time with a practice.

Some days only a few quiet minutes may be enough.

There may be days when you return to a prayer, sit beneath a tree, leave an offering, reflect in your journal, or simply pause long enough to notice what is present.

And there may be days when the practice is simply to rest.

The purpose is not to perform spirituality perfectly or complete a rigid routine.

It is to allow relationship with Spirit to become something you live.

This Course May Be for You If...

You feel drawn to shamanism or animism but want something deeper than techniques.

You want to develop your own direct relationship with Spirit rather than relying entirely on someone else’s interpretation.

You feel a connection to nature but want to understand how to move from appreciation into genuine relationship.

You want to work with ancestors, spirits, land, and sacred presence with greater respect and reciprocity.

You are looking for a spiritual practice that can become part of everyday life rather than something separate from it.

Or perhaps you simply know there is more to the world than what can be seen, and you are ready to learn how to meet it.

Why February 1

The date of this course’s release was chosen intentionally.

February 1 belongs to the season of Brighid, and as I close an important chapter of service within a Brighidine tradition, releasing this work on her day is an offering of gratitude for what that path has given me.

February also brings us into Solmōnaþ, the old Anglo-Saxon month associated with offerings made to the sacred powers.

That connection holds particular meaning for me through my Germanic ancestral traditions, but it also speaks directly to one of the central teachings within this course:

Relationship with Spirit is not only about asking.

It is about reciprocity.

So this course begins where its teachings begin.

With relationship.

With offering.

With gratitude.

And with the understanding that the sacred is something we participate in.

Coming February 1, 2027
